Microsoft’s Hardware Recommendations for Windows Vista

To run Basic Windows Vista, Microsoft recommends:

  • minimum of 512MB RAM

To run Windows Vista with the Aero experience, Microsoft recommends:

  • A system with a dual-core processor
  • A minimum of 1GB or more of Dual Channel memory, or 512MB of system memory plus a premium graphics card from ATI or NVIDIA
  • A more fully featured system which can provide a richer experience
