The Oculus Ready program is meant to act as an “easy button” for VR hardware, designed to give consumers an easy way to know which platforms and configs are ideal for the best VR experience using the Oculus Rift.

When will other systems/configs that are Oculus ready be for sale?

We’re focused on the initial solutions that are currently enrolled in the Oculus Ready program and will continue to facilitate innovation as the VR market evolves

Is the pre-sale coupon still available for discounts on Alienware systems that are Oculus Ready?

Unforutnately, the Oculus Ready coupon program was only available for a limited time, and expired on 6/14/2016.

Can you buy better components and still expect to be Oculus Ready?

The Oculus Ready certification applies only to the platforms designated as Oculus Ready and the configurations sold with those systems. There are various configurations of these platforms that will still be VR capable, meaning they have met the recommended spec and performance requirement for a stable and enjoyable VR experience. As long as added components stay above this threshold, the system should still be considered VR capable but not necessarily Oculus Ready certified.

The Oculus Ready certification program will test specific configurations to establish eligible platforms. If users decide to upgrade components aftermarket it may affect the VR experience and official certification.

Will Dell or Alienware sell the Oculus Rift Headset?

The Oculus Rift is available from Oculus.com, pre orders began on January 6th, and now, beginning February 16th, select regions will feature Oculus Ready bundles from Best Buy, Amazon and Microsoft Store. As the VR ecosystem hits the market and matures, Dell and Alienware continue to work with Oculus to enable as many sales channels as possible and we look forward to a point in time in the future when a consumer can purchase an entire Oculus Ready solution from Dell or Alienware directly.

What content is there for VR?
